Initial nominations for The First Annual Semmys Awards, honoring individual blog posts & articles in the Search Engine Marketing Industry, came out last week.

SEO by the Sea was honored with 14 nominations in 6 different categories amongst that initial group. The initial nominations will be reviewed by judges chosen from the Search Engine Marketing Industry, and reduced to a smaller amount.
From there, public voting on the finalists will happen. I don’t believe that any dates have been set yet for voting.
I’d like to congratulate everyone who has been nominated.
This is the first ever Semmys Awards. I like the idea, and hope to see these awards grow in the future. Matt Mcgee was the originator of the Awards, and he has some ideas on the Semmys about page on the direction that the awards might take after this year.
I’ve also been asked to be a judge for the Linkbuilding category. It’s a tough job, because there were 31 excellent nominations to review.

Search Engine Journal Awards

SEO by the Sea was nominated for a couple of Search Blog Awards for 2007 at the end of December – “Best SEO Blog of 2007,” and “Best Search Engine Research Blog,” and I was amongst the nominees for “Most Giving Search Blogger.”
SEO by the Sea was voted Best Search Engine Research Blog, and received a good number of positive votes in the Best SEO Blog. I also received a good number of votes for the Most Giving Search Blogger.
I’d like to congratulate the other winners and nominees in the awards. I’d also like to see the SEJ awards grow, and have a wider range of categories and a nomination process that enables recognition of a broader range of blogs in the future.
There are a lot of unsung heros in the search industry who don’t receive the thanks and the kudos that they deserve, and I’d like to thank those folks for all of their efforts.
I’d also like to thank everyone who nominated and who voted for SEO by the Sea and for me. The nominations and votes were very much appreciated.
